Russian President Vladimir Putin believes that global warming is used under false pretext. The purpose of it is to stop Russia and other developed countries from using natural sources of oil and gas.
According to Andrey Illarionov, the climate change occurs in cycles. Global warming is strategically used in order to contain the industrial development of several countries among which is Russia. He even added that the claim about global warming is not based on sound evidence.
Climate Action Tracker revealed that the emission of carbon in Russia is higher than in China, the United States and the European Union. Russia dismissed these claims.
Russia makes its own climate policies, without consulting Greenpeace and the World Wildlife Fund, which is why it is additionally criticized.
