Scientists discovered that a compound in blushwood berries can successfully eliminate cancer cells in skin melanomas without any side effects.
This compound starts to work in only five minutes. The effects of this compound were tested on dogs, cats and horses with skin cancer and the results showed that the compound was 75% successful.
The tests were conducted on animals which were terminally ill and would die within weeks.
This research was conducted by Dr Glen Boyle, from the QIMR Berghofer medical research institute in Brisbane.
Blushwood berries grow in only one place and that is in the pockets of Far North Queensland in the Australian Rainforest.
Berry’s seed provides the cancer-fighting compound and it is extracted through a complicated purification process.
Dr. Boyle stated that he was amazed by how quickly this cure works. After the compound is administered, the treated area becomes purple. On the following day, the area becomes black and within a few days the tumor’s fallen off.
It must be emphasized that this cure can only work in cases where tumors can be accessed by direct injection. Also, it did not work on metastatic cancers.
But it must be noted that such treatment is promising and in the future, it can be used alongside chemotherapy and surgery.
Clinical trials on humans are expected to start in the near future.
