Until now, the HIV was considered the deadliest. Things have changed because Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) is responsible for the strongest epidemic.
HPV is a virus which affects cervix, anus, mouth and throat. This sexually transmitted infection (STI) can appear in 1000 different types.
HPV is sexually transmitted during the contact with the skin of a person which is infected with it. Even if you use condoms as a protection, you won’t be protected from this virus. This fact was confirmed by a research. This is why more than three quarters of sexually active women get this virus at some point.
This sexually transmitted disease is transmitted even if the infected person does not show signs of the disease. Symptoms usually appear years after the initial infection. This virus can be inactive for years before it shows the first symptoms.
Women have 5% higher chance of getting the virus than men. HPV can cause cervical cancer, which is the leading cause of death in women.
