Keep avocado on your everyday menu in order to decrease the level of cholesterol in your body.
The positive effect of avocado was proved by a research conducted at Pennsylvania State University, and thanks to the participation of 45 volunteers. All of them were overweight, aged between 21 and 70. Participants formed three groups and they had to undergo a specific diet, depending on the group they were in. The purpose of the diet was to reduce the level of cholesterol.
The first group had low-fat diet. Moderate-fat diet was meant for the second group, while the third group had a diet rich in avocado fat.
All three groups made a progress after the testing period, the results of the third group were the best.
Avocado has the power to reduce cholesterol by 13.5 milligrams per deciliter (mg/dl), and this is why the avocado diet was the most successful. Moderate-fat diet decreases cholesterol by 8.3 milligrams per deciliter and low-fat diet reduces cholesterol by 7.4 milligrams per deciliter.
