One study showed that blushwood berries contain a substance which successfully kills cancer cells. This study was conducted at QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute in Queensland, Australia.
Blushwood berries come from blushwood tree and they grow in the rainforests of Far North Queensland, Australia.
As a part of this study, an experimental drug named EBC-46 was made from the seeds of blushwood berries. The drug was used on dogs, cats and horses with spots of melanoma on their skin.
After Dr. Boyle and his team of scientists treated these animals with EBC-46, the tumors changed color and then fell off.
It was concluded that blushwood berry has the ability to stop oxygen supply to the cancer cells, resulting in complete disappearance of tumors. The drug showed results after 48 hours. This means that this drug can be used as a substitute for surgery, chemotherapy or radiation therapy.
This study is promising because it can be presumed that this treatment could be effective in humans too.
However, it must be noted that this drug was successful only in tumors which can be accessed by direct injection or topical application. The EBC-46 can’t be used on metastatic cancers.
Further study is needed to confirm whether this drug can be used in cancer treatment in humans.
Other natural remedies, which are known for cancer-killing properties, include chamomile tea, flaxseed and carrots.
