China will celebrate 70th anniversary of victory against Japan in a parade on Tiananmen Square on September 3. Russia’s troops will be a part of it.
Russia’s 154th commandant’s regiment arrived early in order to hold joint rehearsals. Until the parade, they will practice every day.
This is the first time that foreign troops will be a part of this ceremony. Veterans who fought for the Chinese Communists’ rival Nationalist Kuomintang party will also be a part of it.
During Moscow’s celebration of May 9 parade, China’s People’s Liberation Army Guard of Honor also participated.
During this parade, China plans to show its military strength and that it was one of the winning powers in World War II.
On the other hand, this is a unique opportunity for Russia to unite two nations and intensify their patriotic attitudes.
In previous months, Russia and China had joint military exercises and plan to have more in the future.
Also, navies of both countries will participate in naval exercises in the Sea of Japan and the Peter the Great Gulf.
However, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated that this does not mean that Russia gives approval to China for its territorial plans for the South China Sea.
