Russia is ready to use advanced Surface-to-air missile systems (SAMS) in Syria. These highly sophisticated weapons can target objects that are flying at a 70,000 feet height.
Some people are concerned over this, as ISIS does not have such aircraft. According to Former Navy chief Lord West, the introduction of SAMS into the battlefield raises some concerns.
He is worried that Russia might use SAMS to shoot down coalition aircraft. If this is not the case, then why do Russians need such weapons on the Syrian ground?
There is the fear that Russia might turn on the coalition. Turkey stated that their fighter aircraft was targeted by the sophisticated mobile defense units.
Commercial flights are in danger because the airspace above the war zone is overcrowded.
