NASA plans to develop rockets which will have the ability to take people to Mars. They have just tested one of those super-engine rockets.
This engine is named RS-25 and it was tested for 9 minutes at the Stennis Space Centre in Mississippi.
Collected data shows that engine can go through temperatures as low as -240C and as high as 3,315C and each minute spends amount of fuel that can fill one pool.
The propulsion engineer on the engine, Kathryn Crowe, considers this engine to be the Ferrari of all rocket engines.
This engine is optimized to achieve increased thrust, weight-to-thrust ratio and overall efficiency.
Observers saw a spectacular 500 seconds blast.
More tests will be conducted in order to see how all engine parts work together. So far, every test was successful.
