After his eye changed its color, an American doctor, who was declared cured of Ebola a couple of months ago, found out he still had a nefarious virus – in his eyeball.
He said for the “New York Times” that in October last year, two months after he was released from the hospital, he suddenly experienced deteriorating vision and a strong pain in his eye. Apart from these symptoms, his eye lost its blue color and became light green.
After numerous tests, doctors were shocked when they discovered that the liquid from his eye turned out to be positive to Ebola virus.
“I was horrified when I learned that the virus was in me the whole time and I didn’t even know it”, said Crozier (44), who was treated with steroids and experimental antiviral drug.
He regained his sight during the following month, and his eye became blue again.
Because of this case, doctors announced that there is no danger of spreading the virus because the samples of tears and external ocular fluid are now negative, but they warned others who have defeated this vicious virus to examine their eyes.
It is already known that Ebola virus can remain in sperm for months, even though it is absent from blood. So far, more than 10,000 people have died because of this vicious virus, mainly in West Africa.
