Brutal sexual crimes of ISIS militants

According to a United Nations official, brutal Islamic State militants punished a woman for refusing to take part in an ‘extreme sex act’ by burning her alive. This militant group is known for its horrifying and monstrous acts.

They are responsible for abducting hundreds of women and torturing them. Kidnapped women are treated as sexual slaves, forced to participate in wicked sexual acts and sold as sexual objects.

As the UN’s Special Representative on Sexual Violence in Conflict explained, this group organizes perverse auctions where they offer undressed women to bidders. Prior to the auction, many of them have to undergo a virginity test.

Jihadists commit especially dreadful sex crimes against young Yazidi women, Zainab Bangura confirmed. She collected information from Syria, Iraq, Turkey, Lebanon and Jordan and found out about numerous cases of rape, sexual slavery, forced prostitution and other extremely brutal acts. One of the examples is the case of a 20-year-old woman who was burned alive because she refused to take part in a sadistic sex act.

More than 200 Yazidi women and girls were kidnapped by ISIS and all of them were exposed to gruesome sexual abuse.

The ones that were chosen as the most beautiful are sent to Raqqa and sold naked on the slave markets. ISIS leaders are the first ones to get to choose slaves, then Emirs, and lastly soldiers. According to the UN official representative, buyers usually take up to four slaves each, but after a couple of months, those women will be re-sold to another buyer.

Bangura mentioned a case of a girl who was sold 22 times, and had a name of Takfiri leader written on her hand. She was labeled as his property. Bangura added that girls don’t have permission to wear headscarves because there were cases of suicides using the headscarves.

Raqqa, the capital of the Islamic State, is known as the center of brutality, and public executions are common here.

Cases of extreme sexual brutality are not specific only to Raqqa. For example, in April, a group of 200Yazidi hostages was freed near Kirkuk, after almost a year of captivity. Among all those women, children and elderly, there was a pregnant girl who went through very disturbing experience. She is nine years old and she was repeatedly sexually abused by more than ten men, which resulted in pregnancy.

Another girl, 19-year-old Hanan, testified about beating and sexual molesting.

There are too many cases and examples of unexplainable horror. Those women who survived horrendous experiences, now have to live with a lifelong trauma.
