Nowadays, nuclear war is a very real threat. We are all aware of the possible consequences in case of a nuclear scenario, so the fact that countries around the world are developing their own nuclear programs is worrying.
However, the U.S. Air Force recently confirmed its success in the field of the weapon development. The U.S. Air Force, in a cooperation with Boeing developed an electromagnetic pulse weapon – CHAMP.
A characteristic of CHAMP (Counter-electronics High-powered Microwave Advanced Missile Project) is that this weapon is improved version of the old nuclear electromagnetic pulse weapon. The good thing is that the nuclear part is left out with this new version of the weapon. When active, CHAMP emits microwaves and uses them to eliminate individual targets (for example, buildings). Its purpose is to black out the electronics of the target, not to blow it up.
Another feature of this weapon is that it has the possibility of firing multiple times, meaning that it can disable multiple separate targets, one after another. This feature was successfully tested three years ago during the test flight in Utah.
Then became clear that in the near future, which is now, this technology will be fully developed and operational.
Beside Boeing, there are two other companies working on the CHAMP product.
Military Embedded Systems says that one of them is Raytheon, which is in charge of building the electronic innards of the device. The previous products of this company include complementary weapons, such as its MALD-J radar-spoofing and electronics-jamming drone.
Another company is Lockheed Martin. The U.S. Air Force will use its cruise missile Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missile – Extended Range (JASSM-ER), as CHAMP’s delivery mechanism. The missile is compatible with aircrafts such as F-15 and F-16 fighter jets, B-1 and B-52 bombers, and the F-35 stealth fighter.
According to Military Embedded, only five CHAMP devices have been built so far, but there is a possibility of more extensive production.
This advanced technology, worth trillions of dollars, has the power of destroying the World Wide Web. Whoever now has the money to invest in this technology, should make the decision fast. This kind of investment would probably bring him considerable profit, because experts are pointing out that this is the largest business opportunity in the history of capitalism.
