In a town in Florida, Groveland, a gigantic sinkhole appeared. This sinkhole is 45 feet wide and 65 feet deep. Due to a ruptured water pipe, it was quickly filled with water.
This sinkhole swallowed up parts of the street and driveway of a home in Groveland. No one was hurt during this incident. According to the Groveland Police Department, one person was evacuated.
In order to restore everything to a previous condition, servicemen must wait for the sinkhole to stop shifting.
Everything is under the water. Even a nearby school is affected by this situation. However, the classes will continue as planned.
Groveland Mayor Tim Loucks noted that this is not the first time that a sinkhole appeared in this location. Previous sinkhole opened up 40 years ago.
Such sinkholes seem to be common in Florida and they are caused by dissolving of the underlying bedrock.
