Earth doomed by climate change which could burn us alive, warns Stephen Hawking

climate change-high temperatures

Stephen Hawking issued a stern warning about the rise of the temperature. According to him, the temperature on Earth could reach the levels that could be devastating for our mankind.

Speaking on ITV’s Good Morning Britain, the famed astrophysicist said that the temperature on our planet could be similar to that of Venus – a staggering 250C.

Professor Hawking said: “An asteroid collision would be something against which we have no defence. But the last asteroid collision was 70 million years ago, and killed the dinosaurs.

“A more immediate danger is runaway climate change. A rise in ocean temperature would melt the ice caps, and cause the release of large amounts of carbon dioxide from the ocean floor.

Both effects could make our climate like that of Venus, with a temperature of 250 degrees.”

Additionally, Hawking said that the greatest breakthrough that the next generation of scientists will achieve will be to develop and implement nuclear fusion which will help to lessen the damage of climate change.

He said that future scientists greatest achievement “will be the development of nuclear fusion, to provide an inexhaustible supply of clean energy.”

However, he says that the best thing he has done is not related to science, but rather bringing children into the world.

When asked about the best moment of his life, he said: “The birth of my three children, something that I thought I would never have when I developed motor neurone disease.”
